This was an unusual scene for us in that the actual caning happened backstage, with director Blake making sure Rosie’s welts would look suitably impressive on camera in the final few shots. Having the impact play out of character gave us a great chance to calibrate it exactly to our performer’s preferences, and meant Rosie could show her authentic reactions in this week’s behind the scenes footage!
